Mindfulness Breaks:
Your Path to Awakening
Authored by Jerome Freedman, Ph. D.
Mindfulness Breaks: Your Path to Awakening reveals the power of your mind to experience inner peace and happiness. It combines the wisdom teachings of the American master, Father Eli with those of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
This book is the result of more than forty years of hard work and study with Father Eli and Thich Nhat Hanh.
One day in 2017, I came upon my notes from the two summers I spent on retreat with Father Eli in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas in 1973 and 1974. It was only after I began transcribing my hand written notes that I realized the teachings of Father Eli resonated fully with those of Thich Nhat Hanh.
After World War II, Father Eli spent 15 years in Japan studying with D. T. Suzuki, the man who introduced Zen into the West. He passed away in 1983.
This book contains scripts to guide you into the process of taking a Mindfulness Break instead of or in addition to a coffee break, a lunch break, or a cigarette break. This is your path to wakening!
The book begins with several chapters leading up to the first script which prepares you for success. These chapters cover such topics as clearing the mind from negative emotions, the practices of gratitude, forgiveness and loving kindness and others. Then you are taught how to set goals and a script for how to achieve them.
The book is filled with Father Eli’s and Thich Nhat Hanh’s wisdom teachings that aid in success with the scripts.
I have been using these scripts in one form or another since 1972. They have helped me and my son recover from cancer. There is no question about the effectiveness of the scripts.
You will learn the importance of unconditional love and acceptance of your life just as it is. You will want to share you love and success with your family and friends out of compassion and empathy for what they are going through.
There are recordings available for the scripts. See below.
