Mini Mindfulness Break for January 04, 2023

Dear Friends:
Your relationship is not supposed to be perfect all the time, your business is not supposed to do well all the time, your souffles are not supposed to raise perfectly all the time. Everything is designed to go wrong so that you can gain the skills of rediscovering your tracks, even in difficult or frightening circumstances. Especially in difficult and frightening circumstances.

Mini Mindfulness Break for January 03, 2023

Dear Friends:
Ego, the illusion of a self separate from Life, is what we experience as fear. Ego is not real; fear is not real. They are made up, imaginary, existing only in a story in conditioned mind. When we bring conscious compassionate awareness to anything, we see through the made up stories and directly touch authenticity. We do not view those actions that elicit old conditioned responses as attacks, rather as sincere efforts in the minefield that is communication.

Mini Mindfulness Break for January 01, 2023

Dear Friends:
Take A Moment

As an experiment, the next time you are doing an errand, stuck in traffic, or standing in line at the supermarket, instead of being preoccupied with where you’re going or what needs to be done, take a moment to simply send loving wishes to all those around you. Often, there is an immediate and very remarkable shift as we feel more connected and more present.

Meditation Practices for Mindful Eating
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh has spoken quite often about the importance of mindful eating. He has, in fact, given us mindfulness practices for mindful eating. For example, in Plum Village or even at retreats in the United States or Canada, every meal is consumed …

Dear Friends:
Abiding Faith

In Buddhism faith is a verb. It’s the offering of one’s heart. It’s not a commodity we have or don’t have. It’s something we do. Faith is a liberating process that deepens as our wisdom deepens. In fact, wisdom and faith support each other. With abiding faith, we know a truth so deeply that it’s not something we even think about anymore–we are it.

Give Back to Your Community
One of the Seven Principles of Mindfulness in Healing is to give back to your community when you are ready. This is important for two reasons. The first reason is that a gift of service to your community has the benefit of getting you out of yourself long enough to serve others. …

Dear Friends:
Riding the Waves

The ebb and flow of life is not unlike the sea. Sure, sometimes it’s calm and serene, but at other times the waves can be so big that they threaten to overwhelm us. These fluctuations are an inevitable part of life. But when you forget this simple fact, it’s easy to get swept away by strong waves of difficult emotions.

Sky Mind, Cloud Thoughts

We cannot push the clouds away, but we can allow the clouds of thought to gradually dissolve until finally all the clouds have vanished. Ultimate realization occurs when there is no trace of the cloud layers whatsoever.
